Your faith in Compaq management shows how long you've followed Compaq. Less than a year...perhaps less than two? I'm not trying to belittle you...just wondering if you were invested in CPQ during the "rough" times.

I don't want to make excuses for the mess-up, because like you said Compaq messed up big time. Yet Compaq might not be around today if it were not for Pfeiffer. Back in 1991, people were saying to short this stock. Back then the stock was probably (split-adjusted) trading at $2 to $3. Pfeiffer turned this company into a 2 billion dollar company into a soon to be 40 billion dollar company in less then eight years. That takes great management in this competitive industry.

As for my investment...I first bought this stock in 1991. I'm not complaining. I then bought last year when the stock was roughly trading in the high teens.
