Death to life by Jesus - "And one of the synagogue officials named Jairus came^ up, and upon seeing Him, fell^ at His feet," (Mark 5:22 NASB) Note: Jairus was an administrator in the synagogue that Jesus attended at Capernaum. "and entreated^ Him earnestly, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, that she may get well and live."" (Mark 5:23 NASB) "And He went off with him; and a great multitude was following Him and pressing in on Him." (Mark 5:24 NASB) ........ ....... "While He was still speaking, they came^ from the house of the synagogue official, saying, "Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?"" (Mark 5:35 NASB) "But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said^ to the synagogue official, "Do not be afraid any longer, only believe."" (Mark 5:36 NASB) Mark 5:36: Vs. 5:36 just believe. Lit., just keep on believing! There are no limits, Christ says, to what faith in the power of God can do. "And He allowed no one to follow with Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James." (Mark 5:37 NASB) "And they came^ to the house of the synagogue official; and He beheld^ a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing." (Mark 5:38 NASB) Mark 5:38: Vs. 5:38 crying and wailing loudly. These professional mourners were hired by the family. "And entering in, He said^ to them, "Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep."" (Mark 5:39 NASB) Note: The girl had been pronounced dead (Luke 8:53). Christ's reference to death as sleep was intended to suggest that her condition was temporary and that she would come back to life again. "And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took^ along the child's father and mother and His own companions, and entered^ the room where the child was." (Mark 5:40 NASB) "And taking the child by the hand, He said^ to her, "Talitha kum!" (which translated means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise!")."
