Ascend's Mory CEO said that the Ciena/Cisco deal is not a big deal to Ascend. Ascend has worked with Ciena, in the past, on addressing clients needs and will continue to work with Ciena and others to address client requirements. He went on to say that Ascend will not make any specific partnership arrangements so that it can change to whomever has the best technology and solution for its clients needs. He also said that Ascend will not build WDM hardware, and will look to Ciena, Alcatel or Lucent depending on fit. So don't be surprised by an Ascend/Ciena contract in the future.
