>>given the company's rather blustery commentary of late and their talk of market share and competition with Tom, 52% year over year license growth and 32% Y/Y domestic license growth won't be viewed as a reason to buy by the analyst community.

Agree wholeheartedly Dave. Unexciting quarter as they continue to be in transition. March was the quarter without much EDS and before field service (Q3) / Lucent ramp (Q2??). SFA is keeping them afloat but staying 'afloat' is not exactly the prescription for a must-own stock. The US direct salesforce is just not doing a very good job as evidenced by just 32% growth. They are getting bailed out by int'l. Its a show-me stock and an in-line quarter means the stock is headed down somewhat.

<< Trust me the street is not fond of declining underlying license growth rates. Look at psft lately>> TD, Good point. And even more importantly, PSFT is a company transitioning to being a billion dollar company where sooner or later it was anticipated that the year after year 80% growth rate eventually had to slow to a more reasonable 60%<g>. The difference with vntv is that they are not a psft and are still at a point in the company life cycle where software license growth is not only expected by the street, it is a necessary component to the company's survival. 32% y/y domestic license growth tells me that the company is either a)not in the deals which I doubt or b)they are losing a lot more than we are hearing about or c)their domestic salesforce is weak. This is supposedly a hot growing market!!!

P.S. Can someone tell me something. Yesterday vntv's stock was at almost 37 about 5 or 10 minutes before the market closed. With practically seconds it goes to 34. How is it that people know this stuff before it is released? As soon as I saw that happen I knew the report wouldn't be great. But how does this info leak out five minutes before the market closes???
