John:

I've been short EQMDE for a few months now. The problem with it from a short perspective is the liquidity stinks. Doug Colkitt, the chairman, holds something like 70-80% of the stock. Because of the minuscule amount of shares in public hands the stock does display some intersting trading patterns. Caution is advised on this one. Wouldn't be surprised if the thing got kited again after the post earnings release decline (whenever they finally get around to putting out numbers.)

Of particular intersest with this one is the related party transactions...sheesh. This guy Colkitt has no shame. Through Q3 '97 EQMDE had purchased around $15 million worth of private companies from Colkitt. There's the PRG fiasco from late '96. The cash flow situation. The reverse split from last summer. Board resignations. I could go on and on about this outfit.

PS: Check out NMFS, just for kicks. Colkitt runs that outfit too.
