snip from thestreetdotcom: Ascend + Ciena Another tidbit comes from fellow networker Ascend (ASND:Nasdaq), whose CEO Mory Ejabat let slip his plans to team with the fiber-optic supplier Ciena (CIEN:Nasdaq) and couple Ciena's bandwidth-boosting optical components with its network products, according to an attendee. Recently Ascend's rival Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq) struck a similar deal with Ciena. An announcement might come in June.
