For those of you who can get the NYTimes today, in the business section is an interesting article about new accounting rules hurting software companies. Gist of the article has to do with the way revenue is recognized and recorded. Many companies will be hurt with regards to their earnings as the new rules are implemented. Such earnings will have to be recorded LATER in the course of the contract, impacting on the early parts of the sales cycle. Wonder if any of these new rules will be applied to Altris, and may account for management's decision to go the whole route and get the entire rules changes implemented now so as to go forward with a clean slate. Worth reading if only to see that many other companies will have to restate their earnings lower...in many cases, much lower. Jack, were these some of the rules you were referring to?
