Notice I've specify cash account. ISLD simply matches limit trades- it doesn't have a record of the shares the Datek customers owned/borrowed, once the trades settled.

Suppose that $40M in KTEL securities arrives at DATK on settlement day, and the owner decided to take his account elsewhere. I'll bet not only will DATK oppose the move, they'll screw it up because once the shares are out of their hands, it'll pretty much prove that they're illegally allowing shorts on stocks like KTEL (they can't borrow what isn't there).

Of course, if I was a better conspiracy theorist, I'll say that the higher ups in DATK base their own trades on the summary of short positions in DATK's accounts, and use that information to screw their customers over. Nah, they treat their customers like royalty ;)
