But rivals at last year's Comdex/Fall raised red flags when HiFD drives on the show floor were similarly present but not working. An attendant at Imation's booth questioned whether HiFD was meeting specification levels.

The Teac staffers at Comdex/ Spring said the drives were fully functional, but refused to place disks in the drive. "We'll be ready for product reviews in July," Nguyen said. "At that time, the drive will run up to spec."

Philip, don't think for a moment that Sony won't get the drive to market. As I've stated before, they have the technical, manufacturing, and financial resources to pull this off.
