Amigo Mike,

USDI

I'm still trying to piece this together - the movement today is too much to not really look into it. It's a BB stock and not easy to track down info. Here's what I know, then I'll tell you what I plan to do.

USDI is a small cap company located in Burbank CA that owns several subsidiaries that specialize in providing wireless and satellite hardware and services. Consumers are mentioned in their PR but the focus is much more on commercial customers which include the main media giants.

CEO is Robert Wussler who is formerly President of CBS and co-founder of CNN.

The main subsidiary is Skysite Communications and acts as USDI's main distributor of satellite communication service and hardware. Skysite just became a distributor of the established Inmarsat marine communications network (which I believe is based in Indonesia).

USDI has also been designated as a distributor of Iridium service to certain commercial sectors that are their specialty (transportation, exploration, media, and government). I'm trying to verify the level of exclusivity they have on this, if any.

That's all I have for facts. I don't have any financial data. Couldn't find anything on the 'net anywhere. Will ask the company for an investor package. I got into this one on the fly so to speak...

For fluff, there's a lot. Wussler is taking every chance he gets to give the impression that USDI is engaged in a great number of initiatives to make USDI a very big player, where the Iridium deal would play only a small part. Here's an example from a speech he gave in December:

"We are a much changed company, enormously focused and highly disciplined. We've assembled a team of men and women who are capable of delivering a win. We are intent on becoming a recognized force in a 10 billion dollar industry and have implemented a variety of initiatives to ensure that that happens. Concept, business plan, management and the necessary financial resources have come together to propel U.S. Digital Communications Inc. forward into a leadership position in the communications industry."

If he weren't used to playing in the big leagues in his previous life I'd say it sounded like fluff. But with him I'm not so sure.

OK, so what am I looking for from the stock?

The stock based very strongly at $2 after it doubled from 7/8. It'll be interesting to see if it does the same this time. There has to be news in my opinion to sustain the current level. USDI has a new PR firm (Liberty Capital) who has a person who actually posted tonight on the SI USDI thread (Jo Elkins who goes by the handle JoLiberty). Liberty is the firm that handles the PR for DGIV...check out that chart.

There was no specific news that came out Weds but the stock was up 35%. The most likely possibilities are a large domestic wireless distribution agreement or an international alliance that will allow them to develop and sell services and products overseas.

I can't set a target price until I know more about what's going on. I originally bought just as a play to beat the pack on the Iridium distribution deal. Now it seems there's may be a lot more at issue.

I'll find out as much as I can tomorrow and report it on the thread.

Phil
