neal-- of the DSL players, i think WSTL is the only one working on DLC solutions, with LU and DSC. i think nortel is working on something but who knows? good luck to all, trey

DR.TECH, I just had to say how much I appreciated your input. I'm long on Westell, but when the price slips so low it is reassuring to hear an intelligent voice reinforcing the reasons I am in Westell. Your contributions are invaluable. <<By y/e 1999, most CPE suppliers will be low margin battle rounds..>> I would appreciate your input on where you see other vendors such as Aware, Pairgain, and Orckit relative to Westell. What do you see as Westell's strength as compared to the others? Thank you, Michael

Dr.Tech, WSTL's largest win is BEL, by far. BEL is using WSTL ATU-Cs in a DSC chassis. WSTL did not win the dslam business at BEL. So I agree with your point: >The Areas of large $$$ profits will come from Dslam's for the CO's and solving the DLC problems.< However, not relative to WSTL. What happens when BEL goes to DMT. This will happen. DSC has a relationship with Aware for DMT, not WSTL. BEL can then replace all WSTL ATU-Cs in the future with other cards. Remember that WSTL did not win the dslam contract--DSC did. There is much to worry about in that regard for the future. Not near term, but longer term. Hal
