Coms is on the cusp of finally reporting positive earnings after all the shocks the last year.

I have traded this stock many times the past 4 or 5 years and the USRobotics acquisition created another great buying opportunity, except that this time due to the size of the acquisition 3Com had to take a year of pain to realize its potential.

All the bad news has been out for 3 quarters now and the road is clear ahead regarding the bottom line. The write-offs are finally done. Earnings will be back close to their historical norms.

There is no gain without some pain sometimes!

regards

Eric

>>COMS should be SOLD for all who want to participate in the
current rally

what's the point of waiting on this stock when there are others
that will make you the money that you want?

after you make some money elsewhere and if you're still
interested in keeping COMS then rebuy it...<<

Lots of us, for one reason or another, are not able to trade
much. In my position, I have a day job, so I can't monitor
my screens with 100% focus all day long. I can get interupted
at work, at any second...

The rest of the market is going up, but at this point, lots
of it would take market timing to take advantage of it.
There is risk associated with this. The higher the market
the more speculation there is, and the more volatility. One
needs to react quickly to these situations, or have pretty
good anticipatory skills of market movement. Most of the
time your limited to a few points at a time.

Some of us just prefer fundamental analysis, as opposed to
trading and market timing. I don't mind a trade here and
there, but not as my main way of investing.

Lots of the trading situations, are just for a few $$ here
and there. When COMS starts to go up, there is a good
chance, that it will POP UP WITH LOTS OF INTENSITY. I'm
partly counting on a FAST UPWARD MOVEMENT, when we get
some good earnings news. I don't want to miss the show
when it starts!!

Another point; some of us might say, why buy other stocks
to trade? -- A few weeks ago, COMS was at 35+, now it's
at 33+ ( I think yesterday, it got to below 33 for a while).
Well, for me, these are GOOD BUYING OPPORTUNITIES, because
there's less and less chance you'll see the stock at these
lower prices. Maybe, the stock will drop to around 30 for
a few days. HECK, AN EVEN GREATER BUYING OPPORTUNITTY.

As our esteemed MR. D.LAWRENCE said in previous
post:

"Better risk/reward ratio at this point compared to just about everyone."

I just wish I had more $$, because I would BUY MORE!!

P.S.
I think we need more discussion on the good things (and
bad of course!) this company is trying to accomplish (and whether they're really good things or bad). I would love to understand
more and more about the technical parts and how it competes
with other companies on the same technical issues. I'm
a programmer by profession, but I'm very interested in
learning more about Networking and hardware related aspects
of telecommunications
. We need
to keep abreast of the future direction that technology is
leading us (to me that's what makes holding tech stocks fun,
learning about the future direction of our civilization...)

Market timing, scare tactics, making $$ is all good stuff...
(heck, the market in it's own right is extremely interesting,
just as making $$ is high form of intertainment...)
But let's not let the thread be totally dominated by this kind
of focus!! ANY BODY AGREE?
