Len, How does Myron know that you flip burgers for a living? Why not suggest that you're the fry-guy instead? I quickly read through that "Polar" thread, and I wouldn't be doing business there. I would expect a reasonable degree of competence before they begin advertising on SI, but, alas, I dream. Perhaps, Myron has no dreams. KJC

Hello to all - I nominate the Thread Moron 'lentils' - aka 'Bean Boy - the fool' Has anyone else enjoyed having 'lentils' for company? A few weekends ago he sent me around 20 harassing PM's using five concurrent SI trail membership aliases. As it turned out SI Admin told me that he had NINE SI trail membership aliases (see below)!! Is that a record? Anyhow - I complained - he got canned - but the fool signed up to SI as a paid member under the alias '1entil' (substituting the number '1' for the letter 'l') on 1 July. He then proceeded to made two posts on 5 July - I complained again - and he hasn't posted since to SI - not sure if he got canned yet again? Was the sign up fee still $125 on 1 July - or had it gone up to $200 by then? If he did get canned (again) and if he paid $125 then that's $62.50 per post :-( Has anyone else here enjoyed having 'Bean Boy - the fool' aka 'lentils' pay them a visit? His favourite mode of posting is via PM's. It's an example of "pecking order" behavior, I think. I just ran across this thread, and wanted to share an insight. Insulting behavior seems to be endemic on message boards like SI. So it cannot be the result of a few "bad apples". It has to be the result of normal human behavior. In the book "Lucifer Principle" there is a good discussion of the "pecking order" behavior of humans and other animals. When the chickens all know each other, no pecking. When a new chicken gets thrown in, lots of pecking until the new chicken finds its place. We all have to feel superior to someone else, but we bow to our betters rather than waste energy trying to beat them. In the real world we have clothes, houses, careers, looks, cars, and all sorts of other ways to signal where we are, or think we are, in the pecking order. Overt fighting is relatively rare. But throw a bunch of humans into cyberspace, and how are we going to know whether some stranger is above or below us on the pecking order? Easy. Insult the other person, and if (s)he slinks away, then you have won. If the other person attacks back, then either attack back with more venom or back off. It has to escalate until it gets resolved as to who is the dominant one. No different than the chicken yard. If only SI could issue us numbers showing our rank in the hierarchy, then we would relax and exchange information.
