Dan,

>>The direct effect on the U.S. economy of a delay to Windows 98 would be considerable. More than 2 million Americans, for instance, develop software that runs on Windows, while a similar number work in the computer services industry,"

2 million Win98 developers, chyah, right. 10000 computer apps (according to Reggie) and it takes 2 million just to convert them to Win98? I can believe the 2 million reboot/reinstallers in the services industry. Everyone who buys a PC becomes an honory member of Team Microsoft.

>>While you can debate a lot of things about Microsoft, their role is extremely important in this industry," he added. "This issue is much bigger than whether or not you slap Microsoft."

Just look at how disastrous things have been for the economy since last year when Windows97 slipped into Windows98. Nobody even noticed; that's how important the upgrade really is.

One of the big losers will be the USB device industry which has been gearing up for Win98; spurred on by Bill's demo noless.

Cheers,

Norm
