Linda: They can, and do write "naked" puts and calls. For example, they can sell calls with no shares to back them up (and hope it never hits the strike price).

The volume was for 220,000 shares. I am guessing you are not on their list of candidates <g>

If you want to write calls, just put in an ask with your broker specifying that you are writing them.

You aren't really planning on writing them are you?
