I cannot speak for all of BEA, from what I know there are a number of very smart investors there; however Todd's investment style was quite from the manager who inherited his portfolios. Upon his departure (which was his decision alone), it was simply easier to make a decision to sell the stock: if it rose BEA wouldn't get the credit (Todd's idea), if it fell they would get the blame.

Unfortunately, this is how many "investment" decisions are made.
