Joe,

>>>>> in reading many posts on various threads last night and this morning, one thing is clear. people are very confused about the direction of the market <<<<<

I am in agreement. This confusion that you speak of, I interpret as a change of trend (MID-TERM of 15-60 days) to a RANGE-TRADING-TREND which is neither an UPTREND or a DOWNTREND. Many only think of DOWNTRENDs or UPTRENDs.

Heres an interesting observation, I have made the most in a RANGE-TRADING-TREND, then in any other type of trend. In a DOWNTREND the period is very short normally, so there are a only a few opportunities and few are able to take advantage of the full drop. In an STRONG UPTREND as we had since JAN, it was very hard for me to go long since my technicals were always in the overbought region and I never got a buy signal. I have adjust my analysis to minimize such in the future. Now in a RANGE-TRADING TREND as we had from last AUG-JAN,
I had several wins and few losses and the gains were substantial.

If I had listen to my BUY signal on Tue, I would have had an easy 50%+ gain.
