Prior to WinHec I would have agreed with the article...
But now I don't agree.
And all these talks about format wars are silly. The choice is obvious. You must use a format that is compatible with the consumer players. Anything else will become BetaMax.

I suspect we'll see the capability to record video to a DVD disk and play it back in your consumer before Christmas 1999. Cube has already demonstrated the capability at WinHec. The hold up will be cost effective drives in 1999 not cost effective encoders.
