Elmer:

<<Intel will likely be shipping Katmai by the "2nd half of the year". That will have more 3D extensions then K6-3D. By then Jerry will be saying "profits are just around the corner" and you will get excited all over again.>>

No need to hype the Katmai here. You don't know what it looks like and how it performs. You don't even know anything about the Katmai-3D. You don't even know what software will be available to run Katmai. You don't even know whether MSFT will have the software driver DirectX version ??? to utilize Intel 3D instruction set.

I suggested you go to your nearest local outlet next month after the introduction of the K6-3D and see the comparison of the K6-3D-333 vs the PII-333 or even on the PII-400 on games like Incoming and Trespasser. It will blow your mind away. I've seen it and the effect is very noticeable different. At the same FRAMES/SEC the resolution of the graphic on the 3D is noticeably SHARPER! After that you better PRAY that the Katmai will be better and out SOON.

Elmer, RE: <Intel will likely be shipping Katmai by the "2nd half of the year">

Not so, according to latest roadmap at tomshardware.com

It shows Katmai sometime in the 1st half of '99, not '98.
