Datapoint Wins 2 Million Pound -- $3.3 Million-- Order to Install NT Servers and Workstations At All Hall & CompanyBranches May 1, 1998 11:12 AM

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1998--Hall & Company Limited builders merchants, part of the RMC Group plc, the world's leading manufacturer of ready mixed concrete, have placed a 2 million pound ($3.3 million, U.S.) order with Datapoint (UK) Ltd for the supply and installation of Acer servers and PC workstations to provide NT services throughout Hall & Company's 100 UK sites. This is the first stage of a strategic NT infrastructure which will ultimately replace their existing branch systems, while at the same time providing access to many of the Microsoft Office products. These products, which include electronic mail, word processing and on-line fax, will provide facilities at the branches integrated across the company as well as building further on Hall & Company's extensive management information system. The order encompasses not only the hardware and NT workstation software required at each branch, but a considerable amount of preparation and testing by Datapoint to ensure that complete working systems arrive on site with Hall & Company software pre-loaded, configures and ready to go live. The order was won against strong competition and a major factor was the long- standing relationship between Hall & Company and Datapoint (UK). This relationship began in the 1970s and has encompassed many phases in Hall & Company's IT strategy including software development, third party engineering services and a fully routed IP network between the branches using ISDN services.
