Where did you get the idea that the code was untested. I can't believe that the Cisco folks would ship code that was not tested. Cisco (nor a Lab) can not test all the cases that a switch will encounter in a live network.

If there is any fault, It is that ATT did not internally communicate that there network failed. If a tech upgrades a switch and the network goes belly-up soon after, (s)he should realize that there is a good chance that the upgrade caused the problem.

Please refer to my previous post. Yes, Cisco tests their software - perhaps more thouroughly than most. SOmetimes bug's skip through and this was a bad one indeed. However, there's is no way Cisco, or any other company can test for everything or emulate a network the size of AT&T's. But Cisco reacted fabulously to the problem and this will be remember - contrary to what the ANALYSTS think. Remember, analysts don't buy product...companies like AT&T do...and other carriers understand service and support. They saw the problem Cisco had and took due note, but they also saw how Cisco reacted and came to AT&T's aid and stood by their side...unlike some Cisco competitors that have had failures and didn't take the blame for weeks (in fact pointed to Cisco).
