OK, Cap, I respect your achievements and abilities with regard to commanding one of the high tech machines in existence! Congratulations!
I also read the GAO updates on Y2K, and they admit Y2K problems ticking away in our most sophisticated weapons and guidance systems! Are you going to be under the Polar Ice Cap on Jan.1, 2000?

Dear Commander Scot: Let me be the first to congratulate you on your promotion to CO. Sounds exciting. How do you keep up with the SI when you are at see. Can you use your laptop on a submarine?? JDN

Hey, that's one of them new fangled boats. I was on the Andrew Jackson(SSBN 619) and Sculpin(SSN 590). Both were commisioned before the Beatles hit these shores and now are razor blades. Good luck to you. I do not miss spending 5 months a year under the seven seas. And they make it seem so exciting in the movies.

Here's what's like to operate a nuclear reactor on a sub:

Turn off your computer monitor. Stare at it for 6 hours. Come back in 12 hours and do it again. Repeat for about 75 days.
