There are many people like myself who have pent-up demand who are waiting for the G3 prices to drop. (probably near when the G4s are to be released.)

However, with tighter control of the channel inventory, G3 prices may never drop the way other Mac models have in the past.

It could be a simple sharp transition from G3 to G4 with no lingering G3s to get rid of.
