The outdoor leaching processes do result in toxic tailings which must be treated or impounded. The Solvex process for mineral extraction proposes to use sulphuric acid as a leaching and extraction agent in a contained chemical circuit.

It is always possible to remediate the waste stream from the open type leaching process but economics usually dictate a tailings pond with the occasional Spanish results.

Larry,

Now admittedly, I am no mining or chemical engineer, but I am a free thinker. I have read your posts regarding SOLV for the past year and have yet to read a post wherein you draw on your own knowledge or experience to support your contention(s) that SOLV technology does not work. You often talk as though you are quite learned in the "technical" aspects of this issue. However, I have also read your posts on Roger's Short Picks and have been equally under-whelmed.

But, since you seem to be itchin' to educate all of us who still have the audacity to have a position here...OK...let's here it. What is it that Larry knows that will change the minds of all of us brazen, yet, under-technically-educated?

>>>SOLV tried to make this work in their pilot system and failed.<<<

Please detail exactly what you know about SOLV's "pilot system" and exactly what your basis is to be able to conclude that "it failed". Please, dispense with the short/long rhetoric...be as technically and geologically detailed as your knowledge of this issue allows.

>>>a similar ore leaching operation caused the disaster in Spain cited by TheDuke.<<<

Is this an accurate statement? Please describe the environmental similarities between the processes used by SOLV in mineral extraction through oilsands separation and Bolidens open pit, massive sulfide operation. Please explain the differences as well.

regards,

bigtoe
