Pharmaceuticals often do well in bear markets! I think I have seen a trend in this recent bull market of antagonism between techs and biotechs - they move contrary to one another. I suspect it's a combination of sectors lots of investors have, and when they move money out of techs, biotechs are a comfortable place to put it, whereas if the techs are hot, buying for biotechs diminishes, and prices go down because of this lessening of interest.
