Please look up some valuable old posts on this thread. SAP is branching into developing countries as well SOHO sectors. Its still a nascent field.

SAP charges 15 % per year for upgrades, at some point in time
all of R&D should be financed out of this income.
SAP also provides consultancy services, the lion packs share is earned by supposed 30 000 non-SAP consultants worldwide so there
is more then enough growth for SAP there if ever wanted.
And then SAP is moving eagerly into the mid market and is very strong with industry specific solutions. To see more ask for the company report, the income streams are clearly marked there.
