This year one of the measures up for vote is to give the board authority to triple the number of outstanding shares. I doubt they are planning a 3 for 1 split with a stock price in the 20's, and it seems a little early to be thinking ahead for a price in the 60's (I hope they know something I don't.) Perhaps they want to split it early to facilitate the acquisition by stock of another company, or as an anti-takeover tool, although I'm not sure how splitting the stock will really help in either of these scenarios. Does anyone have any thoughts?
