Banshees competition announces price

Matrox has also announced a new Millennium (the Millenium G200). Here's the press release on Avault. I went through the releases and made a comparison of the Mystique and the Millineum cards head to head. Everything is straight from the press releases. Interesting specs here. Seems like the Millennium is tweaked out JUUUUST a bit more. And if it's the only one to come with a software bundle, it could be the one to get (considering that they're of equal price and all). I'm pretty sure the only big thing the Mystique has is the TV Out. That's big for some, but for those of us with a 20" monitor, it matters little.

Price8MB $169, 16MB $269

Chip:
That's an interesting question with no clear answer (as I think there might be none to be had). I don't think Greg was being flippant when he answered "different" to a question that targeted that very issue. As I posted on the Yahoo thread, it is clear that the SLI aspect of Voodoo2 won't be a possibility with Banshee so for sure Banshee won't have the same performance as 2 Voodoo2 boards. My guess is that Banshee might also miss some of the special features of the full Glide API, at least that's what the "vague" wording in the Annual Report would lead to believe. The two things I got away with on that issue based on Greg's answer are:
1. Different price point, different channels and target markets might minimize any cannibalization of one by the other if performances on some of the features are equal or in Banshee's favor;
2. They will rather cannibalize themselves than give the competition any shot at doing it. This sounds to me like taking a page directly from Intel's book, and made me even more bullish on the company. Like in 1997, and regardless of current claims, I'm afraid the competition won't find 1998 to be a walk in the park :-)...

I am interested in getting a VOODOO chip board. Has anyone tried out both boards and has an opinion as to which is the best? I want just the 8mg from Creative or Diamond. Creative is $20 bucks less and offers a rebate for non-Voodoo prior owners. I'm hoping Creative is better of course.
Thanks,
Ron

PS-Don't panic with 3DFX. We all know the earnings and demand are there and the price will reflect that down the road.
