From Monday's WSJ: Michael Mahoney, who runs the $2 billion GT Global Telecommunications Fund, thinks 3Com is a bargain. 3Com, he says, trades for about 23 times expected calendar 1999 earnings, while getting the bulk of its revenues from markets growing 30% or better. "They're turning the company around," he says. "They could grow way above the market rate." According to several attendees, 3Com told investors at the press-excluded Q&A session following their presentation that the company is about to announce a huge order for cable modems from a leading cable-television company.
