Another quote of "the Prince" that I think of often, particularly when I read a report of innocent people getting ripped off by unscrupulous persons, is the following ...

"The end justifies the means."

Meaning ... whatever activities take place, whether those actions be honest or otherwise, are acceptable ... as long as the instigator of the activities gets what he wants out of the deal in the end.

The defense against unscrupulous persons?

Buyer beware. Look before you leap. And, always remember ... if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is (says so in my profile).
