I use Gateway and have been generally pleased. I have been introduced to the inside of my computer several times adding on and I must say that nothing simple has ever turned out to be. But the support generally has gotten me to someone knowledgeable enough to help me fix the problem. I would have to say, that if I had just bought the machine with everything already installed, I probably would never have had a complaint.

I'll probably get a new machine after Win 99 comes out, so I don't have to install a new OS - a terrifying prospect.

Jeff --

Might check out the Micron too, they have great support and the best warranty in the business.

Thanks for your comments.

Yeah I'm checking out Micron and they have a store here in N.Utah.

It's amazing because for every bad thing I hear about Dell I'll hear something bad about Gateway. My kids friends uncle bought some Gateway notebooks for his office and had to get my kid to get two of them working, I don't recall the details but he say's he'll never buy Gateway again. I've heard similar things about Dell and Micron, and Compaq and, you get the point. My kid and I have reached the point where we don't even bother with tech support, I'm fortunate that he can solve virtually any problem that comes up short of hardware failure where warranty would have to kick in. I find it disgusting what is happening with companies. It seems like for every good report you hear there are ten negative ones. It sucks plain and simple.

I will check out the Gateway line and try not to make my decisions based on a few peoples bad experiences.

Thanks,
Derek

Jeff I have Micron and Dell PCs...for drivers I just go to their web sites and download what I need...matter of fact I just downloaded drivers from Dell today. I'd buy either brand today depending on the best deal available.
