Rocky,

You very succinctly described the only successful way to invest in this sector- Buy when the BTB is negative and declining, and then sit back and wait. Too many people are trying to time their purchases so they can get in at the very bottom in terms of prices. That IMO, is an exercise in futility. Some will succeed, most will fail or miss out on the upleg.

Regards,

Brian

Do you mean 3 or 4 times or 75% of current value in 18 months? I have a good chunk of semi equips and would like to see it go up.

Goldman Sachs analysts in general over the long haul are terrible. All you have to do is check them out. After a while you start wondering if they are trying to dump their losers on their retail accounts.

Re: "Getting a clue and accumulating at 31ish".

Ticker: LRCX
05/01/98 726,500 31 1/8 29 1/2 30 1/8
05/04/98 1,683,200 32 3/8 30 1/8 31 3/16
05/05/98 811,500 32 1/8 31 1/8 31 1/8

FWIW, I bought LRCX today at 16.00/sh. There may be a lesson here somewhere...something like... beware of loud mouth know-it-alls who yell at others to "get a clue". Really not sure ;-), but ~ 50% here and ~ 50% there, may eventually add up.
