DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1998--Charles R. Frederickson, Chairman of the board
of directors of VICORP Restaurants, Inc., (NASDAQ:VRES) announced today that the Company
has accepted the resignation of J. Michael Jenkins, President, Chief Executive Officer, and member
of the VICORP board of directors. Jenkins, whose resignation is effective immediately, is leaving to
pursue another opportunity in the restaurant industry.

Frederickson said, "Mike accomplished what he came here to do three years ago, and we wish him
well in his new endeavors."

Frederickson has assumed the duties of the President and CEO and will begin immediately the
search process for selecting a new President and CEO.

VICORP operates and franchises approximately 356 mid-scale family-type restaurants, principally
under the names Bakers Square and Village Inn, with concentrations in the Rocky Mountain region,
upper Midwest, California, Arizona and Florida.
