Yaacov:
MSFT goes up and splits every 3 years or so and with them putting their software in new autos beginning next spring, it could be bigger than the desktop pc industry, I don't see why it should'nt continue to do well. W98 will certainly help their revenue, and it will be big for the entire industry. I always keep some msft stock for long term but I do make a second buyin when it trades down about 20% from the yearly high, playing the second buyin for a short term gain. The stock may languish for a while until these state atty generals and the DOJ settle with msft, but when the news comes out that msft has the green light, the stock WILL go up.

I would say 99% of the current users will upgrade to win98. Think about that if you
have spent more than $1000 or even $1500 for the hardware, would you just
save $109 not to upgrade the software , and which will make your system less efficient ? Just like a car, If you lready spent $20k for a car, will you save that
$200 not to fix the break , which will threaten your life on the highway? So, I would say 99% of the current users will upgrade from WIN 95 to WIN 98 if their hardwares allowed.

Yaacov,

Y2K will ultimatey drive sales of Win98 and NT5.0 in 1999. The word on the street from 3rd party analysts, system integrators and other's readying clients for Y2K is have the most recent releases of software on your machines. I look for MSFT to split in 99 and even with a potential market wide downturn in late '99 and early '00 MSFT revenues will have more than doubled by 2001. We can probably expect another split in '01 as well.

Regards,
Brian
