Bill,

A dslam has two functions; to terminate the "R" units into "C" units and to concentrate and multiplex the data traffic out to the regional broadband network. WSTL has key parts in those "guts" but they are replacable if DSC is replaced. WSTL did not win the primary business. Yes, DSC and WSTL were "married", but if something happens to DSC then WSTL has big problems, unless they are primary on a DSLAM win.

DSC is not the whole enchilada for the future. Will e-mail you.
