From us.imdb.com Microsoft is planning to release a test version of its NetShow 3 video streaming technology on Monday that, according to numerous accounts, provides a significant improvement over earlier versions and may be more reliable than RealNetworks' similar product, Business Week reports in its current issue. However, the magazine said, RealNetworks is also planning an upgrade, dubbed G2, to be released this month that provides better resolution than previous versions. Usually the announcement of a competing MSFT product is terrible news -- short-term. RNWK just signed a deal with high-flying K-TEL, so they not only have great technology but also are getting great content. Perhaps there's a bargain here in the making if it goes down. - Jeff
