whipsaw: I own HRMSX, which closed to new investors last fall. It is quite small and I suspect that it will reopen once the performance improves (it did not have a great year in 97). It lives mostly in microcaps, it holds about a third high-yield (bonds etc), a portfolio of shorts and index puts, and longs that range from medical companies to Korea Fund and Asian Tigers. The fund is not suitable for trading because the buys of the fund manager are characteristic of a patient old-timer who has a long time horizon. I will add money to this fund even though it had a mediocre first year- it was a tough year to be holding shorts. The fund is worth considering for long-term investment money if it reopens.
