Doug, I could see why Siliconix might have had a bad
quarter due to relative slowing down in the portable
communications market.

I can imagine Siliconix as well as the rest of VSH planning
on good sales from products destined for Korea and other Asia
markets, only to see their orders cancelled! Ouch.

Strong Europe and US markets should help the bottom line, but
until Asia comes back plan for flatter performance. -Jay

Doug, I defer to Greg and Thomas on your question. Greg told us about the palladium problem a few posts ago and at the time it went right over my head. Have found article on subject in April 27th issue of EBN (electronic buyers news) entitled "palladium users say approval of Yeltsin aide may be a boost" --the point being that the acceptance of his choice for prime minister was thought to be a sign that Russia may soon resume shipments of palladium. I haven't gone to the online site, but it is ebnonline.com
