Some 85 or 90 % of the computer population is wintel based.
It would seem to me that Sum should try to get their less than
10 % market share compatible with the rest, not get the other
90 % to change. DEC and HWP are in the same market as Sun and
have reached this conclusion. Why fight a war if you do not
have to. Sun management should hope and pray that the CPQ-DEC
buy goes badly. And should be working like hell to improve their technology and market share in case it doesn't. They can not
fight two battles one with CPQ and the other with MSFT even
with the DOJ on their side. Their future is about as bright
as Custer at Little Big Horn, if CPQ starts picking at their
market.

Developers will port to all the platforms that can give them profits.
Doesn't everyone remember what happened to Lotus.
