INTC is the lowest cost producer of chips and are increasing their performance on Moore's Curve, but SUN seems to have a longer cycle for upgrades to their chips. As far as the future unix chip, how about an upgrade of the DEC alpha? I don't see how the DOJ can stop the agreement for INTC to manufacture these chips for DEC/CPQ. I'm getting into areas that I know almost nothing about but even I can see plenty of problems for SUNW that are not being addressed. Gene

Sorry, I commented on your other thoughts, but I forgot about my theory. First, I am not sexist, but there are things that only boys can know. When we were 12, 13 or 14 we all participated in a] spitting contests, that soon became b] whizzing contests. The guy, this was in New Jersey, had a special status if he could whiz farther than anyone else. I heard that in the slums of Newark the guys actually measured their ding-a-lings, but those guys were Italian. Elason, McNealey, Barksdale, Jobs, et. al. are engaging in a series of whizzing contests with Bill Gates and so far he is winning. That guy with thick glasses and zits is beating them. These guys have incredible egos and feel that they are invincible. After all they were worth 10 mm when they were 21. Since they can walk on water they feel that at a minimum, they should be able to whiz farther than Gates. They have retaliated to their lack success by bringing in the politicians and the DOJ, who are the best whizzers and are themselves the biggest ding-a-lings extant.
