Perhaps you have been taken by Jerry Sander's gospel of equating success with beating Intel. Intel's falling margins have less to do with AMD (though they've been a factor with their presence) than with the lack of a "killer app" in my opinion. Perhaps you'd like to graph out AMD's microprocessor shipments over quarters and then re-evaluate your statement. I do not think shipping 1.5m a quarter in a market ~25m is a success - however the last ditch yield effort did rescue AMD from bankruptcy,
