I will concede in retrospect that the class officers probably were expected to take on more than should have been delegated to them in the long run. And it is easy for me to critisize standing in the background having not been asked to help organize such an event (come to think of it, I would probably be at a loss to come up with something better). But to have it on the 4th of July, one of the BUSIEST holidays of the summer and in the city park to boot where every family which wants to have a get together will be, is in my opinion, a bit short sighted. I think they could have tried to get a consensus for what a good time might have been. I strongly believe this is nothing short of a priviledged few making decisions for the many. As you can tell, I'm rather perturbed by the whole thing. Well enough already.
