Personally I like three - five days which is time enough for the day traders to exit. I typically buy in on a Friday after the volume stablizes and the price. OR I just miss it.

Binder....... You have a point if news comes out before two weeks the stock could run on you. The reason i like two weeks for people who cannot monitor their stocks during trading hours is that a two week base hardly ever fails. I have seen a lot one week bases fail.
