Good Morning Christine, You are right Jesus is upset at the things that have and are happening in His name. When these things happen there seems to be a split in people who claim to be Christian. I just read this week a beautiful book on the righteous Gentiles during WWII. I was in tears thru the entire book at the courage love and strength of these people. My conclusion is that Jesus is indeed the Creator of the UNiverse and His words bring light to the soul of every person. Therefore if they are bad it shows, and if they are good it shines. If they are sincere in wanting His Spirit that He promises to those that believe Him then anyone can change as I have seen this in my life and others. The problem comes with His gentleness and that He will not force Himself on anyone they have to (as He says) be willing to come into the light to have their deeds exposed and if they are willing the bad ones removed. This takes some self control initially to resist things that are not really good for us no matter how much we want them (sin). But like John the Baptist said BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD. That is important He does not just forgive but takes away destructive habits (personal or otherwise). In the Old Testament you can see that He is a jealous God that has feelings and is very interested in His people. That is where some of the intolerance comes from, I don.t think the Creator of Life wants to share you with other gods but has counted every hair on your head and knows every thought you have and desires to be a personal God in a loving relationship with all He has created. Other religions overemphasis personal behavior and neglect to focus on relationship with Him by prayer and reading His word to learn of Him. So many times God says do not do this, it stirs up anger and people say He is unloving. But when you look closely the very things He says not to do have consequences that are destructive in the end. I don't think He brings the consequences all the time but the natural consequences are foretold by Him as a warning. He can intervene but usually doesn't but wants us to let Him take away the destructive thing by surrendering it to Him with our hearts for help. It takes time from our perspective sometimes and others are instant. Take AA as an example the first step is about accepting you have a problem with destructive behavior and need God to heal you. They have the only true success rate in overcoming addiction. Jesus is the TRuth, the way to life, and the light to heal all people. When you read of them burning women you have to remember when they brought the woman caught in adultry to Him to kill her. He looked at them and asked where her partner was, then He said he who is without sin cast the first stone. He was the only one left and asked her where her accusers where. Since He was the only one without sin He says He forgave her tenderly and encouraged her to go and sin no more. There are so many accounts like this where He upheld women with so much love and tenderness that any who do not do the same are not His disciples but are liars. Christine, Sorry I dont have url, I am really a net neophyte. Unitarina universalism is something that i think you would relate to. If so great, if not, great also :-) If you look into it, make sure that you find unitarian universalism, and not just Unitarianism. Have a great day, Mark

Christine; Please do not mistake the damage of religion with the Lord. Remember, we should know them by their fruits. Yeshua warned us that many would come in his name and would deceive many. I always expect a Christian to show love for others, and when they don't I have scriptural reason to doubt them, not to judge but to doubt. As far a the treatment of women goes it seems to me that the Yeshua is the author of freedom for women. If you look around the world at the places were women are free, you will see a correlation to the places the apostle Paul spread the gospel. In non Christian countries women are still treated with little respect i.e. Islam covering women, China were killing baby girls is common because of over population. Scripture teaches that there is no longer male or female, but all are one in Christ. If you see disrespect for women, judge the fruit once again and question if Yeshua is present or not. One more thing. If we accept the idea that all religions are the same, we remove the possibility that any are true. All religions in the world contradict each other, especially Christianity. If any of these are sent from G-d, they would be complete, and true as G-d cannot lie. If we overlook contradiction then we begin to pick and choose only the parts we agree with and ignore the rest. I must believe all of G-ds Word so that I can use it to refute error. As I am sure you have seen, if you pull out small parts of it you can prove almost anything with the Bible. Only by accepting it as one unit can we see a picture of Yeshua, and his love for all women and men. I'll stop as I think I'm rambling, but I see the love of the Lord in you that you cannot separate from your Christian upbringing. Please don't deny the power of this and return to those roots.
