A History of Power : SI ....cont'd.... Earthside, Beijing, Biosoft Labs, 2033 Chu Mei suddenly understood. That is what it seemed like to him any way. Unwillingly he rose. This was not good. His hands quickly flew over the familiar switch patterns for biosoft disconnect, this was definitely getting worse, what to hell was happening. He tried to assert some voluntary control over his muscles, nothing. Once the biosoft was disconnected he proceeded to disconnect his own sets. He got up and walked through the security door and down the hall towards the washroom making sure he left his security ID on the desk in his office. Chu Mei shuddered, with no physical reaction,this was terrifying. A few minutes later, he re-emerged from the washroom having done nothing, he went to the security door and pressed the assist switch. The guard who showed up was also hit, whatever it was it only required eye contact. After retrieving his ID and his biosoft, Chu Mei went to the main security station and the guard returned to his station, completely unaware of what had transpired. Chu Mei was checked out as each guard was apparently overridden by whatever force had also gripped him. Digital cameras would verify none of these things had happened. The main security monitors would report that Biosoft KW372 was safely ensconced in protective storage. Security on duty would remember nothing out of the ordinary. Chu Mei did not show up for his next shift, he didn't show up at home either
