>>>Doesnt it work--first come first served? In which case if there is a long "line" ahead of u (marg, ktel),you get filled late?<<<

This last week or so between 9:30 and 10 had nothing to do with a "long line" but had to do with Datek executing nothing during the time in question. Datek stated that it was problems with the Nasdaq system, but others pointed out that there was substantial volume being executed by other brokers on the Nasdaq during the time in question. Some were wondering why the "Nasdaq" problem would be so Datek specific. I definitely recommend using limit orders only with Datek.

On the other hand, I must say that some of the lousy non executions have gone in my favor, so I don't see a conspiracy or a broker trying to trade against me, just a system that can't adequatly deal with the volume, and that sometimes craps out entirely (no way to get through on the phone in a timely fashion either).

More info available on the Datek thread. Lots of dissatisfied customers there. The only reason I'm going to maintain an account there is because they let me short whatever I want, and they are the only broker I am aware of that will do so.

"Line"? Perhaps, but with my discount broker there has never been a line long enough to prevent a timely fill...especially on a market order.

What Roger described presumably was a situation where he didn't get filled for something like 30 min??? I take back saying "right at the open". But don't put up with Datek's excuses, there is no excuse.
