FWIW: Teac Says Drives For HiFD Will Hit $100

"Drive-maker Teac in August or September will ship HiFD drives priced about $100, with 200MB media priced at $10, according to booth attendants at Comdex/Spring here."

Assuming the Sony/Fuji/Teac group ever gets this drive into production, Zip could be facing some future pain. While I doubt HiFD will have a significant impact on SparQ sales because of its focus on the SuperFloppy market, it does give the box OEMs another competitive product to consider for inclusion and offers customers another alternative.
