Frankly, I don't see how AMAT can't underperform over the next 1-2 years. Intel has said that they will not begin upgrading to 300mm for another 2-2 1/2 years. And it won't all be done at once. They plan on running several process sizes side-by-side for some time. The good part is that a move to 300mm on a line will require upgrading almost all of the equipment.

Companies can't raise prices, but at the same time consumers demand faster and faster machines. It's a tough situation.

Yes, I agree Amat is in a lull. Everyone knows that the Eqp mfg's have been the worst hit by the Asia mess, but what is the Jury (Wall Street) thinking?
That is the $64k question and the Jury has its ears on Amat!
