Good discussion. Personally I can't see GTE caring to fight too hard to hang on to it's BC Tel stake. The current foreign ownership rules prevent them from going anywhere with it. Sure they can stay on for the ride as the Canadian industry consolidates, but they can never play a leadership role. I doubt it's their style to be a bit player. So they'll be open to an offer. My guess is that Telus will make that offer for BC Tel, and that BCE will try too. If Telus can't pull it off, then BCE will eventually control both BC and Alberta.

Should be a messy fight. Sure wish I knew what it meant for share prices.

Crusader, the demise of the consortium will hopefully make us some money if things develop as we hope they will. We hopefully will also have the added bonus of lower phone rates in the longer term as Canada hopefully follows the US lead in trying to initiate local phone competition. BCE does us no favours on rates here in Ontario either.
