Scott, try skystation.com if you haven't already.

The Skystation venture is for real, incidentally. They've recently registered for frequency allocation. Alexander Haig is on their board, and has been a principal all along. Perhaps L3 or other purveyors of similar ilk could cut a local distribution resale deal with these folks? I've recently resurrected this subject on the LAST MILE Thread here in SI. See: Message 4298002

Extreme Vision--?? Visionaries ?? Implementors ??

Hi Scott-- From my perspective, those that contribute directly and guide the course of the evolution of what we call the "internet" are
the visionaries. Vint Cerf is a visionary and an example. When
internet traffic doubles about every 100 days and your business hangs
on the outcome of this evolution, it is time for extreme practicality
and technological savvy/insight.

I did'nt want to take this LVLT thread off topic and have it become a
"Gilder fan club" and cult following. I expressed my opinion.

LVLT jumps right into this action, but from a "greenfield" POV. Maybe
these guys are the visionaries ;-)) Yup, the ambitious "Oxygen" project, if they can get it together is interesting. A lot of turf
self interests here to be resolved.

I like infra-structure--internet infrastructure kind of things, of
which LVLT, QWST, CIEN, CSCO, LU are a part, and the things that
feed them. I don't have Corning tho--

Thanx for comments--
Curt...
